Loansome Doc Services
Loansome Doc is the National Library of Medicine's (NLM) program that enables PubMed users to electronically order photocopies of documents. PubMed is the NLM web program that provides health professionals access to MEDLINE and other MEDLARS databases.
How do I participate?
Users must register with a primary library in order to participate in the LOANSOME DOC Document Service. First, click here to register for LOANSOME DOC at the National Library of Medicine. After registering with NLM, you will get an email to register Loansome Doc with WSU. If you accept (sign the agreement and return it), you will be authorized to order articles and will also receive a WSU ID number, which will serve as your invoice/account number.
How do I order documents using Loansome Doc?
- Do a PubMED search.
- Locate and select citations from PubMED.
- Tag the specific citations on the screen for which you would like to receive photocopies.
- Submit your order.
How will my request be processed?
Your message with the tagged citations will be sent to WSU for copying. Articles will be photocopied and returned by mail or as specified. Requests for items not owned or unavailable at WSU will be returned to the user unfilled or referred to another library as specified by the user.
What does it cost?
Users will be charged document service fees as indicated below. Prices are subject to change without notice, and requests may be subject to additional handling charges, if applicable.
Loansome Doc charges per individual request:
- Material is owned by WSU: $11.00 (includes $2 invoice fee)
- Material is obtained elsewhere: $21.00 (includes $2 invoice fee)
- For-profit institutions (per article): $20.00
How do I pay?
You will receive a monthly WSU invoice for items supplied. Payment can be made by cash, check, Visa, or MasterCard.
