Health Sciences & Outreach Services Librarian

Washington State University Libraries, Vancouver

This position: staffs the reference desk approximately 10 hours per week (that may include evening or weekend shifts); provides course-integrated instruction in-person or online; participates in other instructional activities, including teaching a 1-credit course, as needed; works with other Library faculty; provides leadership in developing embedded library services to online courses; provides liaison services to Nursing, Anthropology, and Human Development, including collection development, information literacy instruction, and communication with faculty and students in these areas; provides leadership in working with groups outside of the Library to further institutional Diversity and retention goals; conducts research resulting in published papers and professional presentations; participates in professional organizations; and participates in faculty governance and other campus faculty activities and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned. This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position.

Required qualifications: ALA accredited MLS; a minimum of 5 years of experience in providing reference and liaison services; demonstrated excellence in providing services to nursing faculty and students; experience in teaching both in-person and online courses; demonstrated competence in learning new technologies; demonstrated experience in working with groups outside the library to further institutional diversity and retention goals; consistent record of research, publication and service activities.

Preferred qualifications: Demonstrated leadership in regional and/or national professional associations; minimum of 2 years’ experience in teaching online courses; demonstrated competence with using assessment methods for learning and teaching; demonstrated experience with embedding library services into hybrid university courses.

Holland/Terrell Access Services – Washington State University Libraries, Pullman, WA

The primary responsibilities of this position are to respond to and assist patrons in the use of the Libraries, lead/train temporary employees in all aspects of Access Services, process initial borrowing requests through ILLiad, and to provide backup for Summit and Interlibrary Loan processing.
